Issue or symptom
When trying to restore your iPhone in iTunes, you may see the following error message:
The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred. Error 1604
Products affected
- iPhone
- iTunes 7.4.3 and earlier
Solution
Update to iTunes 7.5 or later.
If upgrading to iTunes 7.5 or later does not resolve, follow the following troubleshooting steps:
Restart your computer
Simply restarting your Mac or Windows PC may allow you to successfully restore your iPhone.
Try a different USB port
Connect iPhone to a different USB port on your Mac or Windows PC. USB 2.0 ports that are built-in to the computer are preferred. If your computer has front and rear USB ports, try a port on the other side of the computer. After doing this, attempt to restore your iPhone in iTunes.
Remove extra USB devices
Remove all USB devices except the keyboard, mouse, and the iPhone. Connect the iPhone directly to the supplied USB cable, bypassing the iPhone Dock. Remove all USB hubs and connect directly to the computer.
Try restoring on a different computer
Attempt to restore on a different computer. Ensure that the computer you are restoring on has USB 2.0 ports.
Create a new user account and restore
Create a new user account and then restore iPhone.
Use the steps below if you're not sure how to create a new user. After creating the new user, log in to that account, open iTunes, and determine whether the issue you were experiencing persists in this new user.
Windows Vista and Windows XP
- From the Start menu, choose Control Panel.
- Open User Accounts.
- Select Create a new account and follow the instructions to complete the account setup process.
- Once the new account is created, choose Log Off from the Start menu.
- Log in to the newly created user account.
Mac OS X
- Choose Apple menu > System Preferences.
- Choose View > Accounts.
- Click the "+" (you may need to authenticate to be able to click this).
- Give the new user a name and short name and enter a password.
- Select the checkbox for "Allow user to administer this computer". This makes the user an administrator user.
- Click Create Account.
조금 예전에 씌여진거라 아이튠즈 7.5라고 되어있습니다만 현재는 7.6으로 보시면 되겠습니다.
간단하게 정리하면 다음과 같습니다.
1. 아이튠즈를 최신버전으로 업데이트해 시도해봅니다.
2. 컴퓨터를 완전히 종료후 다시켜서 시도해봅니다.
3. 기타 USB 장치를 제거한 뒤 시도해봅니다.
4. 다른 컴퓨터로 시도해봅니다.
5. 새로운 사용자 계정을 만든 뒤 시도해봅니다.(아래는 이에 대한 세부내용입니다.)
Window 비스타와 XP
시작 메뉴에서 제어판을 선택하십시오.
사용자 계정을 여십시오.
새 계정을 만들기를 선택하고 지침에 따라 새로운 계정을 만듭니다.
새로운 계정을 만든 후, 시작 메뉴에서 로그오프를 선택하십시오.
새로 만들어진 사용자 계정에 로그인하십시오.
맥 OS X
애플 메뉴 > 시스템 환경 설정을 선택합니다.
보기 > 계정을 선택합니다.
"+"를 클릭합니다.
새로운 사용자의 이름과 짧은 이름과 비밀 번호를 입력하십시오.
"이 컴퓨터에 관리자를 사용합니다"에 대한 확인란을 선택하십시오.
계정 만들기를 클릭하십시오.
말그대로 터치 자체의 문제는 아니며 아이튠즈의 오류중 하나니 터치가 고장났을지도 모른다는 부담은 가지지 마시기바랍니다. 참고하세요.

그런데 애플은 가만히 보면 터치 관련으로 뭔가 안되는 게 있으면 왠지 전부 컴퓨터 탓을 하는 듯한 기분이...--;; (그건 비겁한 변명입니다~ 아니면 내 핑계대지마~ 하고 싶은 기분이...)
자기네들은 완벽하단거죠. ^^;;
님,ㅠㅜ 저는 9번에러가 낫는데여, 그건 혹시 아실수 있는 방법이 있나여??ㅠ
인스톨러실행했는데 갑자기 틱꺼졌다 켜지더니 터치 컴퓨터에 연결하라는 로고가
떠서 연결했더니 아이튠즈에서 복구해야한다고 그러더군여,; 그래서 복구를 누르니
....복구할수 없습니다....(9)이렇게 뜨더군여,ㅠ 도와주세여ㅠㅠ
그 경우 복구는 강제로 DFU 모드로 전환해야 합니다.

이번 2세대 해킹하면서 복원중에 1604에러때문에 정말 미칠뻔했다죠^^;
근데 온갖 알려진 방법을 다 써봐도 너무 안되더군요 흑흑..
아이튠즈가 근본적으로 개선해줘야 할 문제인 것 같은데 으으^^;
다른 분들은 피시방 전전하면서 하셨다던데^^;
저는 오기로 새벽에 밤새도록 씨름을 해서..
아마도 복원 시도만 거의 100번 가까이 한 듯;;
그러다가 결국 새벽에 성공했어요 하하^^;
근데 근본적인 해결법이 없으니 다음번에 또 할 일이 생기면 어떻게 하나 참 고민되네요 ㅋㅋ
